Ohio State Becomes 21st Clinical Training Affiliate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine

EDISON, N.J. -- Ohio State to Provide Clinical Experience as Part of Ross Students' Final Three Semesters of Veterinary Education

Ross University, one of the world's largest providers of veterinary and medical education, announced that The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine will begin offering clinical training to Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine students as part of their final three semesters of veterinary education. Ohio State is the 21st American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)-accredited school to become affiliated with Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. There are 28 AVMA-accredited schools in the United States.

Having awarded more than 1300 doctor of veterinary medicine degrees since opening in 1982, Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine offers comprehensive veterinary training modeled after U.S. programs. Students spend the first seven semesters of pre-clinical training at the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine campus on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts, before returning to the U.S. for three semesters of clinical training at an affiliated, AVMA-accredited school of veterinary medicine.

As an affiliated institution, Ohio State will provide Ross students a total of 48 weeks of training, primarily at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital on its Columbus campus. Students will be reviewed and approved by Ohio State's academic dean and will be subject to the same academic standards as Ohio State students. After completing the clinical training, Ross students will be eligible for national licensing exams.
