Business Wire, Nov 10, 2004

MALVERN, Pa. -- Siemens Medical Solutions and Holy Redeemer Health System announce that they have entered into a multi-faceted agreement that makes Siemens the principal technology and service provider for Holy Redeemer for the next 10 years. The agreement provides upgraded technology that will enhance service to Holy Redeemer patients through improved workflow, reduced costs, and increased technical support.

Expanding upon its existing relationship, Holy Redeemer will migrate its current Siemens clinical and financial applications from Siemens INVISION(R) platform to Siemens new generation Soarian(R) platform, which provides added functionality and more sophisticated workflow architecture. In addition, Holy Redeemer will purchase new diagnostic imaging equipment, a new radiology information system, and Siemens latest generation picture archival and communications system (PACS).

"A leader in healthcare technology, Siemens provides Holy Redeemer with access to the latest technology and information management services, which will enable Holy Redeemer to continue its tradition of providing the highest quality patient care to our patients," says Michael B. Laign, president and chief executive officer of Holy Redeemer Health System. "Committed to strengthening our information and technology base, our agreement with Siemens is a positive change and an investment in the future."

Holy Redeemer will also outsource its information technology operations to Siemens. "About 30 information technology employees at Holy Redeemer will continue to serve the health system on-site, but will now work for Siemens," says Holy Redeemer vice president and chief information officer Anne Searle, who is overseeing and will manage the relationship with Siemens. "Because it is on the forefront of healthcare technology, Siemens can provide employees with professional development opportunities through focused education, training and advancement. Additionally, the relationship with Siemens will provide Holy Redeemer staff with 24/7 access to a technical help desk -- a true asset to staff working overnight hours."

"Our agreement with Holy Redeemer Health System is an ideal example of the relationships that Siemens is seeking to establish with its customers," says Thomas N. McCausland, president and CEO of Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc. "By integrating a comprehensive product and service solution, we are able to maximize our core strengths and together, we will positively impact Holy Redeemer's access to advanced technology, the quality of care it delivers, as well as opportunities for process efficiencies and cost-savings."

Holy Redeemer also extended the term of its multi-vendor Integrated Service Management agreement with Siemens and has incorporated new equipment into the agreement. Siemens will provide Holy Redeemer with preferred pricing on equipment purchases and service contracts, along with the highest levels of service response and incentive-based performance guarantees.

Holy Redeemer Health System, located in Meadowbrook, Pennsylvania, was founded and is sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Redeemer who, for more than 75 years, have been providing quality, compassionate healthcare and social services to the community.
