JBoss, Inc. Reports Third Quarter Results; Expands JBoss Enterprise Middleware System with New Technologies and Releases; Strengthens JBoss Management Team

ATLANTA -- JBoss(R), Inc., the Professional Open Source company, today announced third quarter results for 2004. Highlights include the production release of JBoss Application Server 4.0, the first open source app server to be certified J2EE 1.4 compatible; expansion of the JBoss Enterprise Middleware System (JEMS) to include business process management (BPM); and new executive appointments to round out the company's management team. In addition, JBoss strengthened its commitment to open development and standards by joining as a member of the Eclipse Foundation (www.eclipse.org). The Company will be contributing to the J2EE Tools Project.

A JBoss commissioned study completed this quarter by Forrester Consulting examined the benefits of JBoss open source technology and support services, including greatly reduced total cost of ownership (TCO), expedited problem resolution and improved productivity of operations support staff. In particular, the study provides an in-depth look at how one organization's use of JBoss support services "carries a low level of risk, a very positive 130% ROI, and an almost immediate return on investment." Again for the third quarter, JBoss exceeded its growth goals and remained cash-flow positive. More than 80 new customers bought 24x7 production support, RightStart development support or training. In this quarter, the French Inland Revenue Service (Direction Generale des Impots, or DGI) and the General Department of Public Accounts (Direction Generale de la Comptabilite Publique, or DGCP) chose the JBoss Enterprise Middleware System for the COPERNIC program, the overhaul of all tax IT system applications in France, with multi-year support services from JBoss, Inc. In addition, Nielsen Media Research selected JBoss as the preferred application server for its corporate IT organization.

Other professional support services customers in the quarter include: Accenture, AT&T Wireless, Belton Industrial International Limited, CarsDirect.com, Chicago Public Schools, Cincinnati Children's Hospital, Covad Communications Group, eHarmony.com, E-Loan Inc., Ericsson Ireland, FedEx Kinko's, First American Trust, GuideStar, InterContinental Hotels Group, Mandalay Resorts, Occidental Petroleum, Penn State University, RBC Liberty, Specialist Holidays Group, TD Waterhouse and Unisys Corporation.

The JBoss Partner Network continues to expand with the addition of 12 new partners, including Active Endpoints, Cincom Systems, ConSol Software, Cybercon, Excelsis Business, iMEDIC GmbH, IQSOFT GmbH, Kronos Incorporated and Materna Information & Communications.

In an effort to bring together this growing community of partners and customers, JBoss finalized plans for its first user conference, JBoss World 2005, which will take place at the Omni/CNN Center in Atlanta, Ga., March 1-2, 2005. The conference will be a critical learning and networking opportunity for the rapidly growing number of users and partners deploying open source middleware from JBoss into production. With a growing customer base and an expanding product line to support and maintain, JBoss this quarter added new executives to round out the JBoss senior management team.

Rob Bearden joined JBoss as executive vice president of worldwide sales and marketing. Bearden came to JBoss from i2 Technologies, where he was president of the Americas, responsible for i2's business in the United States, Canada, Latin America and Mexico. Prior to i2, Bearden served as senior vice president of worldwide sales for Manhattan Associates. He also spent six years at Oracle Corporation in various executive sales positions, including group vice president of Western Operations and area vice president of the Southeast. Bearden will oversee sales, pre-sales, marketing and channel strategy.

Brad Murdoch joined the Company as vice president of services. Most recently, Murdoch was vice president and general manager of the services business unit for Wind River Systems, growing the staff from two to 200 and driving upwards of $40 million in revenue. He also headed up strategic alliances for Wind River and oversaw Unisys Corporation's customer services, outsourcing and networking businesses in Australia and New Zealand. Murdoch will spearhead the expansion and enhancement of JBoss' expert support, training and consulting services business worldwide.
