Ericsson and Amoi in China Signs Contract for 3G Mobile Platforms
Business Wire, Nov 11, 2004
STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- Amoi Electronics Company, a premier handset brand in China, has selected Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERICY) Mobile Platforms as their 3G platform supplier. This license agreement further underlines Ericsson Mobile Platforms leadership in WCDMA.
Ericsson Mobile Platforms has licensed its WCDMA platform U100 to Amoi. The U100 is commercially proven, a highly integrated, rich-multimedia enabled dual mode mobile platform supporting WCDMA and GSM/GPRS.
"We are very pleased that Amoi, a premier brand and one of the largest domestic manufacturers in China, has selected our WCDMA platform for their 3G product portfolio," said Sandeep Chennakeshu, president of Ericsson Mobile Platforms.
"The decision to select Ericsson Mobile Platforms for our 3G portfolio is based on our experience in working with Ericsson on GSM/GPRS and their leadership in 3G," said Li XiaoZhong, CEO of Amoi. "We were impressed by the U100's technical performance and stability. We clearly see the benefits in Ericsson Mobile Platforms' architecture as it enables re-use of our application suite and know-how from our GPRS platform projects."
This is the second agreement between the two companies. The first agreement (previously announced in April 2004) covered the G100 and the G200 platform products, which are complete GSM/GPRS platforms from Ericsson Mobile Platforms.
Ericsson is shaping the future of Mobile and Broadband Internet communications through its continuous technology leadership. Providing innovative solutions in more than 140 countries, Ericsson is helping to create the most powerful communication companies in the world.
