LOS ANGELES -- Gluecode Software(TM), an open source application infrastructure company, today announced the availability of the first open source application platform optimized for the Intel(R) Itanium(R) 2 processor. Gluecode JOE(TM), also announced today, is an integrated, Java(TM)-certified platform built on proven technologies from the Apache Software Foundation. Consisting of the Apache Geronimo application server, Apache Agila business process management engine, Apache Pluto portlet container, and Apache Derby database management system, Gluecode JOE provides a low cost, production-ready framework for rapidly building and deploying applications.

"We are pleased that Gluecode can extend the benefits of scalable, reliable, high-performance, open source applications to a broad market."

"Enterprises are relying on open source infrastructure for their most demanding business applications," said Mike Mitsch, director of Alliance/System Integrators, NEC. "We look forward to working with Gluecode to qualify Gluecode JOE on the broadest family of Itanium 2-based servers in the industry."

"The availability of Gluecode JOE for the Intel Itanium 2 processor is a significant milestone for enterprise-class open source and high performance computing, enabling Java developers to rapidly build applications and reliably deploy them into mission-critical, resource-intensive environments," said Winston Damarillo, CEO of Gluecode Software.
