PowerDsine to Demo New Power over Ethernet Midspan at Wi-Fi Planet Conference & Expo; PowerDsine to Launch New Midspan for SOHO Market
Business Wire, Nov 16, 2004
FARMINGDALE, NY & HOD HASHARON, Israel -- PowerDsine(TM) Ltd. (NASDAQ:PDSN), a pioneer in Power over Ethernet (PoE) solutions, will be exhibiting at Jupitermedia's Wi-Fi Planet Conference & Expo on December 1-2 at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose. A live demo of its new PoE Midspan will be available at PowerDsine's Booth #625. The new PoE Midspan is intended to address the budgetary constraints of the Small Office Home Office (SOHO) environments.
PowerDsine's new PoE Midspan offers a cost-effective, fully compliant IEEE 802.3af solution for remote powering of Wireless LAN access points, Voice over IP phones, and network security cameras as well as other low-port PoE installations in SOHO environments.
PowerDsine's PoE Midspan solutions are based on its PoE chipset, and include 1-, 6-, 12- and 24-port designs that are compliant with the IEEE 802.3af standard. The company's Midspan solutions also support power management with SNMP capability.
"In smaller office environments, users may not need a multi-port PoE Midspan solution to power and support their wireless LAN or IP phone. For this reason, it made sense to develop a solution that would accommodate the budget requirements and deployment needs of the SOHO market," said Igal Rotem, CEO of PowerDsine.
About Power over Ethernet Technology
PoE is a technology for wired Ethernet, the most widely installed local area network technology in use today. PoE allows the electrical power necessary for the operation of each end-device, to be carried by data cables rather than by separate power cords. It minimizes the number of wires that must be used in order to install the network, resulting in lower cost, less downtime, easier maintenance and greater installation flexibility.
