Telco Systems Announces Distribution Partnership with Phillips to Target Independent Local Exchange Carriers with VoIP, FTTx, TDM Access & Transport Solutions
Business Wire, Nov 22, 2004
BOSTON -- Telco Systems today announced a distribution agreement with Phillips Communications & Equipment Company to provide Telco Systems' full line of copper and fiber-based transport and access equipment to Independent Local Exchange Carriers.
Dave Lee, Telco Systems Vice President of Marketing and Service, said: "We are pleased with the addition of Phillips as a channel partner to help us further penetrate the ILECs with our VoIP, fiber-to-the-home/business and multi-service solutions."
Phillips will be offering Telco Systems' Access211 and 201, EdgeGate CPE and IP Switch platforms for VoIP and FTTx; as well as its multi-service EdgeLink OTM1000, EdgeLink Hub, and EdgeLink100 family of products which provide DS1, DS3, and Ethernet service delivery.
Bobby Baine, Phillips VP and General Manager, said "Phillips is excited about the opportunity to represent the complete Telco Systems product line. We are committed to offering our customers the products they need. The Telco Systems product line fits that need with their robust, cost-effective carrier class access and transport equipment. Telco Systems will be a welcomed addition to Phillips extensive product offering."
About EdgeLink OTM1000
EdgeLink OTM1000 is the first optical SONET edge solution that allows service providers to deliver traditional DS1, DS3, and Ethernet services (Ethernet over SONET) over an OC-3 fiber feed via virtual concatenation (VC) and generic framing procedure (GFP), without the wasted bandwidth found with traditional Packet over SONET (PoS) offerings. EdgeLink OTM1000 efficiently delivers voice and data over the last-mile. It optically transports an OC-3 to locations where copper cannot reach, where voice and data service delivery needs exceed DS1 or DS3. EdgeLink OTM1000 is ideal for connection to fiber spurs off a carrier's SONET backbone ADM (Add/Drop Multiplexer) or in point-to-point applications for extension of DS1, DS3, and Ethernet from a CO or POP.
About EdgeLink HUB
EdgeLink Hub, a multi-service distribution hub, enables service providers to more efficiently deliver DS1, DS3, and STS-1 services from core transport systems by eliminating stranded bandwidth. Its ease of operation and flexibility allows service providers to quickly and cost-effectively expand service delivery without the burden and cost of additional shelves. This compact CO solution, only 5 RU, can hub up to 3 OC-3s, 9 STS-1s, or 9 DS3 drops off core transport equipment such as SONET ADMs, a digital cross-connect (DCS) or CO switch for high density DS1 distribution.
About EdgeLink100
EdgeLink100 is the industry's smallest, most cost-effective DS3 multiplexer available. Its compact, plug-and-play architecture enables service providers to turn up T1s fast, saving installation time and costs as well as valuable real estate. It is deployed at every edge of the network from the core to the CPE. This 1 RU carrier-class DS3 multiplexer handles up to 28 DS1s. It utilizes connectorized DS1s and user-friendly remote provisioning menus to facilitate fast turn-up. Additional features include circuit loopback, auto sensing, remote testing, tributary mapping, TL1 management via multiple sessions, optional integrated patch panels, and LAPD messaging.
About FTTx and VoIP
Telco Systems offers an end-to-end active Ethernet FTTx (Fiber-To-The-Home/Curb/Business) solution comprised of the company's family of carrier-class IP aggregation and core routing switching platforms and VoIP media gateways. The Telco Systems FTTx end-to-end solution enables a service provider to connect end-users over fiber from their home or office throughout a community, metro area, campus environment, multi-dwelling unit or multi-tenant unit to an IP backbone and deliver VoIP Internet voice service, video, data and broadband Internet access. The company's Access211 and Access 201 VoIP gateway connects to either a DSL or cable modem to enable service providers to offer VoIP service over a high-speed Internet connection.
