Fox Sports Interactive Media Selects Sarvega's XML Speedway Accelerator for FOXSports.com on MSN
Business Wire, Nov 29, 2004
CHICAGO -- Sarvega's XML Speedway Accelerator Provides Wire Speed XSL Transformation (XSLT) Performance for Dynamic Delivery of Real-Time Information
Sarvega announced today that Fox Sports Interactive Media, the leader in interactive sports programming, is using Sarvega's XML accelerator, the XML Speedway, for FOXSports.com on MSN.
FOXSports.com on MSN is the premier online destination for sports information, sports scores, live sports updates, sports statistics, fantasy sports, and a rich blend of exclusive editorial content, innovative customization and exclusive online video. In addition, FOXSports.com on MSN offers integrated packages of online content tied to premier sports events such as the MLB All-Star Game, the NFL season, the NFC Playoffs and the Super Bowl.
Fox Sports Interactive Media added the Sarvega XML Speedway to its IT infrastructure to gain scalability and to improve XML acceleration as FOXSports.com on MSN expanded its features and was gaining viewership.
"FOXSports.com on MSN requires an infrastructure that can support our needs today and grow with us. Sarvega's XML Speedway met our requirements - and we were very pleased that the Sarvega team was able to meet our aggressive timeline for launching our new site," said Adam Bain, Vice President of Development and Production at Fox Sports Interactive Media.
"Fox Sports Interactive Media is an impressive example of how XML is being used by major enterprises for key, revenue-generating initiatives. We are very proud that our XML Speedway Accelerator is being used by a household name such as FOX Sports," said Christopher Darby, president and CEO of Sarvega.
Enterprises use XML because of the flexibility it offers in handling large amounts of data. However, using the existing server infrastructure to process the XML data can become cost-prohibitive. To address this, an increasing number of organizations are deploying dedicated XML processing products such as Sarvega's XML networking appliances. FOXSports.com on MSN is using the Sarvega XML Speedway for critical XML processing tasks such as XML Stylesheet Language transformations (XSLT). XML Speedway processes XML tasks at wire-speed which enables FOXSports.com on MSN to present dynamic content such as real-time sports scores and dynamic statistics. XML Speedway also offers linear scalability, flexibility and reliability.
