D-Link's Wireless Media Player Launches Support for WM DRM10 Using Sigma Media Processor
Business Wire, Nov 4, 2004
MILPITAS, Calif. -- Sigma Designs (Nasdaq:SIGM), a leader in digital media processing for consumer appliances, today announced that the D-Link MediaLounge Wireless Media Player (model DSM-320), which uses the Sigma EM8476 media processor, now supports Windows Media Digital Rights Management 10 (WM DRM10) to enable networked devices to access content acquired from a host of online music and video services including all the services present in the Digital Media Mall of Windows Media Player 10.
The D-Link MediaLounge Wireless Media Player distributes video/audio content to television sets throughout the home using wired or wireless connectivity. Consumers have more flexibility in storing and collecting a myriad of content with the release of Microsoft XP Media Center Edition 2005 and as a result, digital media adapters such as the D-Link MediaLounge DSM-320 allow consumers to remotely access all the digital music, photos and video stored on their PCs through any TV in the home.
With a sleek design and a fully integrated entertainment component form factor, the award-winning D-Link MediaLounge Wireless Media Player (DSM-320) plugs directly into a television and stereo via standard A/V or S-video cables. The best selling wireless media player plays and displays digital music, video and photos as well as high quality Internet radio, which is streamed from PCs on a home network via 802.11g or b wireless technology or standard Ethernet. With support for MP3, WMA and WAV audio files, users can listen to music play lists such as M3U and PLS on their stereo system. Video format compatibility, meanwhile, allows customers to watch stored videos in MPEG1/2/4, AVI, or Xvid format on televisions or view slideshows of their photos in JPEG, JPEG2000, TIFF, GIF, BMP or PNG formats. The recent addition of WM DRM10 enables the DSM-320 to an ever widening array of encrypted content.
Adding to its robust feature set, the D-Link MediaLounge Wireless Media Player supports streaming audio and video Internet services including an exclusive offer with the best-of-breed Radio@AOL broadband service, the widely recognized Unlimited Napster(R) Music Service and RealNetworks(R)' award-winning Rhapsody(R) service. The DSM-320 also adheres to the Universal Plug-&-Play AV specification, and complies with Intel Networked Media Product Requirements (INMPR), allowing it to communicate with other UPnP AV media devices seamlessly. Earlier this year, the D-Link DSM-320 received the American Electronics Association (AEA) award for most innovative product technology of the year 2004 for consumer and SOHO markets.
"One of our primary goals at D-Link is to drive the next generation of connectivity products for consumers in the Digital Home," said A.J. Wang, chief technical officer for D-Link Systems, Inc. "Towards fulfilling that goal, we have begun using media processors from Sigma Designs, which offer us a high quality decoding solution with a wide range of options."

"Our media processors have become a leading solution for digital media adapter products as a result of our advanced codecs technologies, strong digital rights management (DMA) support, and flexible system features.
