Vault Releases New Employee Surveys on Qwest

NEW YORK -- New York research firm Vault has just published new employee surveys on communications giant Qwest (NYSE: Q) that today reported third quarter 2004 results -- providing "insider" information on corporate culture, compensation and hiring practices at the company.

Vault's employee surveys are designed to give investors and jobseekers insight into Qwest -- and for job seekers, the edge in this tough recruiting climate.

Among the aspects of the company highlighted by the surveys is Qwest's culture when it comes to compensation and benefits.

Says a major account executive, "(My) current package (is) $50,000 base salary, $55,000 commissions, and about $300 in expenses. Qwest matches 401K up to 3% and is immediately vested. Also have a pension plan: $3,000 a year that is immediately vested. 3 weeks vacation or sick time in the first year."

But as for career reward at Qwest, a former director notes that "As much as they preach spirit of service, the only spirit of service is to the boys on top. There is no sharing of the truth, no feeling that you are appreciated, and worst of all, they just don't care."

An IT specialist adds, "The 'good old boys' run the show and you are either in or out. Internal movement is extremely difficult due to intense office politics."
