Leading Analyst Firm Lists Xerox in 'Visionary' Quadrant for Enterprise Content Management
Business Wire, Nov 5, 2004
ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- In Gartner, Inc.'s recently published "Magic Quadrant" report on enterprise content management, Xerox Corporation's (NYSE:XRX) DocuShare(R) software was placed in the "Visionary" quadrant.
The ECM Magic Quadrant* report provides guidance to the large number of Gartner clients who are evaluating ECM vendors and solutions.
The ECM Magic Quadrant evaluates vendors who have revenue of $10 million or greater based on core ECM components, which include document management, Web content management, records management, document capture and imaging, document-centric collaboration, and workflow.
According to Gartner, vendors listed in the visionary quadrant have a clear vision of market direction and are focused on preparing for that, but they can still improve in terms of optimizing service delivery.
"Our vision has been to increase the 'essential ECM' functionality that we deliver in DocuShare - and we feel Xerox's placement in the 'Magic Quadrant' reflects our progress in the marketplace," said David Smith, vice president and general manager, Xerox DocuShare Business Unit. "We will continue to listen to our customers and offer an affordable, scalable application that allows organizations to buy only what is needed and extend the solution over time."
The 2004 report provides additional information on industry trends over the last year. Gartner expects ECM will continue to absorb other technologies, such as digital asset management and e-mail management.
Xerox DocuShare is a Web-based enterprise content management software application that businesses of all sizes can rapidly, easily and affordably deploy and manage. It helps customers collaboratively capture, manage, share and publish information.

The Magic Quadrant is Gartner, Inc.'s opinion and is an analytical representation of a marketplace. The positioning of vendors within a Magic Quadrant is based on the complex interlay of many factors. Gartner does not advise companies to select only those firms in the "Leaders" quadrant. In some situations, firms in the Visionary, Challenger, or Niche Player quadrants may be the right matches for an enterprise's requirements. Well-informed vendor selection decisions should rely on more than a Magic Quadrant.
