Cedar Point, OmniVision Reach Agreement for Third SAFARI Deployment in Latin America
Business Wire, Nov 8, 2004
DERRY, N.H. -- Cedar Point Communications, Inc., the leader in integrated packet-based voice switching technologies for the cable industry, today announced an agreement with OmniVision S.A. of Argentina for the third deployment of the Cedar Point's SAFARI C(Cubed) Media Switching System in Latin America.
Under the agreement, OmniVision S.A. will deploy SAFARI C(Cubed) to subscribers in Buenos Aires beginning this fall. Cedar Point previously had reached agreements with Cable Pacifico of Colombia and Grupo TVCable of Ecuador for deployments of the SAFARI C(Cubed) platform.
"Cable operators have an opportunity to make a real impact through the delivery of high-quality, highly-reliable telephony," said S. Daniel Marini, president and lead founder of OmniVision S.A. "We chose SAFARI C(Cubed) because of its ability to provide the services that our customers desire in a simple and cost-effective way.
"Using a cutting edge technology such as SAFARI C(Cubed) allows OmniVision to offer subscribers an integrated suite of services under a single provider umbrella, simplifying the relationship with our customers and achieving higher standards of operational efficiency," Mr. Marini continued. "The alliance with Cedar Point Communications is a very important step toward achieving OmniVision's business and technological goals."
"Customers around the globe continue to place votes of confidence in the SAFARI C(Cubed)," said George Kassas, founder and executive vice president, business development for Cedar Point. "We always understood that operators worldwide would benefit from the efficiencies of an integrated, packet-based voice switch. We're pleased to welcome OmniVision to our customer family, and gratified at the rapid acceptance SAFARI C(Cubed) has gained throughout Latin America."
SAFARI C(Cubed) is the only totally integrated carrier class switch that incorporates -- at no additional cost -- all of the components that make up the PacketCable(TM) voice switching infrastructure, eliminating the need for operators to purchase, maintain, upgrade and regression test separate Call Management Servers, Media Gateways, Record Keeping Servers, Announcement Servers, Signaling Gateways, Ethernet Switches and CALEA servers.
Designed to accommodate not only current voice switching needs but also the anticipated migration to video telephony and multimedia services, the PacketCable(TM)-qualified SAFARI C(Cubed) provides superior performance and reliability, significantly reducing capital expenditures, system integration and operations costs for cable operators offering telephony services while increasing network integrity, security and privacy.
