Concord Coalition to Honor Sen. John McCain With Economic Patriot Award, Wednesday, Nov. 10
The Concord Coalition will present U.S. Senator John S. McCain (R-AZ) with its Economic Patriot Award at The Concord Coalition's Eleventh Annual Economic Patriots Dinner this Wednesday evening, November 10, 2004, at The Pierre Hotel in New York City. In honoring Sen. McCain with this award, The Concord Coalition said: "Senator McCain has always stood as one of the strongest advocates on Capitol Hill for fiscally responsible policies and generational equity. His independent positions on tax cuts and spending increases often put him at odds with his colleagues on both sides of the aisle -- which is considered high praise by The Concord Coalition."
John McCain was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1986, winning the seat of retiring Senator Barry Goldwater. Prior to his Senate run, Senator McCain was elected to two terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. In 2000, Senator McCain sought the Republican Presidential nomination. He is currently the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, and serves on the Armed Services and Indian Affairs Committees. Last week, Senator McCain -- the senior Senator from Arizona -- overwhelmingly won re-election to a fourth term.
After presenting the award to Senator McCain, Concord Coalition Co-Chairmen Warren Rudman and Bob Kerrey, Concord Coalition President Peter G. Peterson, Robert E. Rubin and Paul Volcker, members of The Concord Coalition Board of Directors, will join Senator McCain on a panel discussing "What the Election Means for Economic & National Security."
The program portion of the dinner will begin at 8:10 p.m., in the Cotillion Room of the Pierre Hotel. Members of the media who would like to attend should contact John LaBeaume at 703-894-6228 ext. 228 or communications@concordcoalition.org.
