Telecom Italia Lab Calls on FalconStor for Storage Consolidation of Storage Lab Resources
Business Wire, Nov 9, 2004
TURIN, Italy -- FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq:FALC), a leading developer of network storage software solutions, today announced that Telecom Italia Lab, the R&D branch of the Telecom Italia Group, a leading provider of comprehensive communication solutions, has chosen FalconStor's IPStor(R) Enterprise Edition software for the Storage Lab Consolidation project that involves other products.
Telecom Italia Lab is specifically tasked to increase innovation and to deliver solutions of value to the many different members of the Telecom Italia Group. The storage environment at Telecom Italia Lab consists of two full redundant SANs (the first for the production environment and the second for the data lab), implemented over Fibre Channel. The IPStor solution was selected to consolidate data from the direct-attached storage in the labs to the company's SAN using iSCSI protocol. Telecom Italia Lab chose IPStor, implemented by Datamatic, a leading solutions integrator in Italy, to deliver the storage services addressing its most immediate storage needs.
Using HP-UX servers connected to storage resources through iSCSI and the campus network infrastructure, Telecom Italia can provide storage resources throughout the organization without incurring the cost of implementing Fiber Channel. The next step will be to implement a disaster recovery service using the Telecom Italia's Wide Area Network.
