Synplicity Reinforces Commitment to Support LSI Logic's RapidChip Platform ASIC Customers
Business Wire, Nov 9, 2004
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Synplicity Extends Multi-Year Partnership with LSI Logic by Joining the RapidChip Partner Program
Continuing its leadership position within the structured and platform ASIC synthesis markets, Synplicity Inc. (Nasdaq:SYNP), a leading supplier of software for the design and verification of semiconductors, today announced its membership in LSI Logic's (NYSE: LSI) RapidChip(R) Partner Program, offering customers RapidChip-optimized physical synthesis tools to develop advanced, next-generation products. The LSI Logic RapidChip Partner Program reduces time-to-revenue, design risk and system costs by providing platform ASIC designers with third-party development tools including intellectual property, design services and design tools that combine quality and flexibility for consumer, communications, storage and other markets.
Synplicity and LSI Logic have worked closely together for more than 18 months to develop customized synthesis and physical synthesis software that targets LSI Logic's RapidChip platform ASICs. With Synplicity's membership in the RapidChip Partner Program, RapidChip customers are able to utilize the Amplify(R) RapidChip software, the only physical synthesis solution optimized for RapidChip devices, delivering the best performance, density and design productivity for LSI Logic's platform ASIC devices.
"We recently used the Amplify RapidChip software on a two million gate design for use in a 3G base station," said Tirumal Parvataneni, director, Silicon Infusion. "The software provided us with a clean flow and enabled us to meet our timing goals quickly. The RapidChip device was compiled in a single pass using the software and without the use of complex scripts. The Amplify RapidChip software proved to be easy-to-use, enabled us to cut the synthesis generation time in half and produced great results, especially for a design of this complexity. We expect to use the software in future design projects."
"We share a common mission with LSI Logic to enable designer productivity and speed time to market, and we are pleased to be a member of the RapidChip Platform ASIC Partners Program," said Joe Gianelli, vice president of business development and strategic alliances. "Working together, we delivered the Amplify RapidChip physical synthesis software, a complete and proven physical synthesis solution that quickly creates complete system-on-chips efficiently and predictably."
Synplicity has worked closely with LSI Logic's RapidChip engineering team for nearly two years to create a customized physical synthesis solution that uniquely targets the RapidChip architecture and sets a new standard for custom logic designer productivity. The result of this jointly developed tool is a new class of physical synthesis software that enables designers to successfully achieve design goals on RapidChip products. Using Synplicity's Amplify RapidChip software, customers receive a streamlined design flow that addresses physical design issues like floorplanning, placement, congestion management, test, packaging, power, clock and signal integrity up-front in the design flow.
"Synplicity brings industry-leading physical synthesis technology to platform ASIC users through the RapidChip Partner Program," said Ronnie Vasishta, vice president, technology marketing, LSI Logic Corporation. "Amplify RapidChip will help to dramatically shorten development cycles as it is tightly coupled to the RapidChip standard for design integrity, ease-of-use, reusability, supportability and quality."
