Renesas Technology's Legal Action Against Nanya Japan
Business Wire, Oct 13, 2004
TOKYO -- Renesas Technology Corp. ("Renesas Technology") filed a motion for a preliminary injunction (called "Kari-Shobun" in Japan) in the Tokyo District Court against Nanya Technology Corporation Japan ("Nanya Japan"), a subsidiary of Nanya Technology Corp. ("Nanya") today. Through the motion for a preliminary injunction, Renesas Technology is seeking the suspension of Nanya Japan's importation, marketing and sales of semiconductor memory products that Renesas believes infringe Renesas' semiconductor package related patent. Nanya is a Taiwan based corporation specializing in producing and selling semiconductor memory products.
Renesas Technology previously filed patent infringement lawsuits in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, on December 17, 2003, and in the Tokyo District Court, on February 26, 2004, based on the infringement of semiconductor memory related patents. After those lawsuits were filed, Nanya Japan continued to willfully import into Japan and to market and sell in Japan memory products covered by Renesas' patents without a license from Renesas Technology. Thus, Renesas Technology filed for the preliminary injunction to obtain legal relief sooner.
