TransAlta's Summerview Wind Farm Begins Commercial Operation

CALGARY, Alberta -- TransAlta Corporation (NYSE:TAC) (TSX:TA) today announced their 68-megawatt (MW) $100 million Summerview wind farm has begun commercial operation. Summerview is operated by Vision Quest Windelectric.
Located 200 kilometres southwest of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, the Summerview wind farm includes 38 Vestas V80, 1.8 MW wind turbines. TransAlta's 314-MW renewable energy portfolio includes 151-MW of wind energy operated by Vision Quest and 163-MW of geothermal energy in California through a 50 per cent interest in CE Generation LLC.
Vision Quest Windelectric is a division of TransAlta Energy Corporation, and is Canada's largest producer of wind energy. Vision Quest is active in Alberta as a generator, holds electricity retailer licenses in Ontario, and has interests in wind power projects in a number of other provinces. Vision Quest sells Green Energy(R) Electricity and Green Energy(R) Tags which are green power products from pure wind energy. Green Energy(R) Tags are available to customers across Canada and the US.
