ACNI Announces Strategic Alliance with GO Tech, Inc. Engineering
Business Wire, Oct 13, 2004
HOLLYWOOD -- American IDC Corporation (ACNI:PK) Today announced a strategic alliance with GO Tech, Inc. a California Corporation. ACNI is the exclusive licensee of the ETV technology (www.etvhollywood.tv)
GO Tech, Inc. is an engineering firm formed by Mario Ghecea, CEO and Larry O'Donnell, CFO, who first met while working for INTERVU in San Diego, California. INTERVU, a leader in streaming video, was later acquired by Akamai (AKAM - NasdaqNM). From there Ghecea went on to work as a Chief Engineer for Gateway and O'Donnell developed Windows Media Digital Rights Management software for Entriq.
In the early days of streaming video, Ghecea and O'Donnell often had "parking lot talks" about building video-pumps for the Internet. By 2001, Mario Ghecea was well on his way toward launching his proprietary "Digital Network In A Rack" technology.
"The DNR product was built for MPEG-2 cable and broadcast networks," explains Ghecea. "We believe we're making better, faster and cheaper video servers than what the current market had to offer, but we were under capitalized."
It was then that Ghecea called upon his former colleague O'Donnell. The two decided to take the video-pump technology back to the Internet and "Broadcast Internet TV" (B.I.T.) technology was born.
"We see American IDC as a good fit, because it will serve as an incubator for our Next Gen technology," says O'Donnell. "It's not often you find a CEO (Gordon Lee, CEO of American IDC) who has engineering savvy, Gordon Lee is a rare find."
Gordon Lee, American IDC CEO, explained, "American IDC intends to acquire Next Gen technology licenses from GO Tech, Inc, including MPEG-2 Transport Stream IP Encapsulation and Decapsulation for use with our own proprietary MPEG-2 encoders and decoders and our own brand of technology to facilitate the custom transport mechanism for MPEG-2 across fiber and copper based TCP/IP networks."
