Datacenter Technologies and Atempo Sign Oem Agreement
Business Wire, Oct 13, 2004
LONDON -- Datacenter Technologies, Inc. (DCT), (Booth# 300), an innovator in managing fixed data and Atempo Inc, (Booth# 425) a leader in information lifecycle strategies for data protection, today announced that they have entered into a global OEM relationship to deliver PC client protection to Atempo's fast-growing customer base. Under this OEM agreement, Atempo will license modules from DCT's DC-Protect software to provide PC client protection as part of Atempo's rich product portfolio.
Atempo PC Protect is part of a series of new products that strengthen Atempo's position as a leader in information lifecycle management (ILM) strategies for data protection. Atempo PC Protect will provide unique content-based technology to enable simultaneous backup of large numbers of desktops and notebooks with minimal network bandwidth and back-end storage. The product will be available for Windows and Linux operating systems, providing a low bandwidth protection and long-term storage system for user data.
"With the announcement of Atempo PC Protect, Atempo continues to expand its product suite to deliver best of breed capabilities to the ILM/DLM market. Atempo evaluated a large number of client protection products that could complement Time Navigator, our award winning data protection software," said Francois Gauthier, Atempo's chief technology officer. "We concluded that DCT's DC Protect clearly is the best technology for desktop client backup. Furthermore, the application of content routing technology enables the software to scale to accommodate the large volume of data that customers will need to archive in the future."
Atempo will sell the new product offering through its network of resellers and to its existing customer base of leading fortune 1000 companies.
Peter Shambora, DCT's chief executive officer said, "We are pleased to announce this agreement with Atempo as part of our ongoing strategy to widen the market acceptance of our core technology."
The core technology licensed by DCT to Atempo is currently used by a major European telecommunication provider to archive and protect data generated by its 5.2 million customers.
Peter Shambora added, "Our innovations in content addressable storage technology enable users to backup thousands of PC's and servers with minimal network and secondary storage requirements. DCT's software is an integral component of the ILM process. We believe that content addressable storage technology, like DCT's, will become the industry standard."
