JDA Software Announces Third Quarter 2004 Customer Activity; Sears Makes a Significant Investment in Portfolio Software Applications

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- JDA(R) Software Group Inc. (Nasdaq:JDAS) announced a sampling of the companies that signed JDA Portfolio(R) contracts in third quarter 2004. This quarter included a number of industry leaders that chose JDA and reinforced JDA's strengthening market leadership. Among these were Sears, Roebuck and Co., Kohl's Department Stores, Carrefour, Gander Mountain, Eastman Kodak Co., The Stanley Works, Nestle Rowntree and Cadbury Schweppes that all signed for additional JDA Portfolio applications. Among the new clients to finalize deals, JDA welcomed Roundy's Inc., Woolworth's South Africa and Twinings of London.

"During third quarter, we signed 69 software licenses, including one deal over $1 million in value, two merchandising systems, nine replenishment systems, 31 planning systems and one workforce management system. Although software revenues were disappointing, the breadth and depth of successes we were able to conclude during the third quarter put us clearly ahead of our competition," stated JDA CEO Hamish Brewer.

"As we progress, our solutions are becoming an increasingly important part of the fabric of the world's largest and fastest growing retailers and manufacturers. As such, we are creating a long-term base for even more additional software sales in the future while driving compound growth in our largest revenue line, maintenance," added Brewer.

Sears Selects JDA Software for Strategic Merchandise Management

Sears, Roebuck and Co. signed a significant license agreement in third quarter 2004 for several JDA Portfolio Strategic Merchandise Management solutions. The retail giant will use JDA's Portfolio Planning and Forecasting(TM) and Business Intelligence(TM) applications to better manage the wide range of home merchandise, apparel and hard goods sold through more than 2,300 Sears-branded and affiliated stores.

Additionally, existing JDA client Distribucion y Servicio D&S S.A., Chile's biggest supermarket chain with revenues of $1.9 billion, licensed Advanced Allocation by Arthur(TM), Arthur Knowledge Base(TM), RAPID Packages by Arthur(TM) and Portfolio Merchandise Management(TM) (PMM(TM)).

In Europe, AS Lavesta, a hardware wholesaler, Grosfer S.p.A., a hardware tools distributor, Spicers Limited, a leading office products retailer, Sun Planet, a clothing retailer, and Tuko Logistics Oy, a logistics company, signed for JDA's Advanced Replenishment applications.

Carlton Cards, Casual Male and Carrefour Invest in Additional JDA Portfolio Applications

Existing JDA customers Carlton Cards Retail Inc., a division of $2 billion American Greetings Corp., and Casual Male Retail Group Inc., the nation's largest specialty retailer of big and tall men's clothing, signed licenses for Customer Order Management-i(TM). This application streamlines and standardizes the collection, storage and processing of data in a retailer's multi-channel operations. Carlton Cards also expanded its Portfolio Merchandise Management System-i(TM) (MMS(R)) agreement and Casual Male expanded its JDA Intellect(TM) and Arthur Planning(TM) and Assortment Planning(TM) licenses.

Also, JDA customer $88.4 billion Carrefour, Europe's largest and the world's second largest retailer, licensed Performance Analysis by IDEAS(TM) for AWR data warehouse and expanded its Advanced Warehouse Replenishment by E3(R) agreement. New City Commericial Corp., a Philippines-based multi-format retailer, signed for Portfolio Customer Relationship Management(TM) and expanded its MMS and Win/DSS(R) in-store license agreements.

Global Companies Select JDA's Proven Portfolio Collaborative Solutions

Leading companies such as Eastman Kodak Co., The Stanley Works, Skil Bosch Power Tools, Imperial Distributors Inc., Lamson Home Products, Perrigo Co. and Unilever South Africa signed for Portfolio Collaborative Solutions(TM). As a result of third quarter 2004 license activity, 238 trading partners now rely on JDA solutions to support over $3.4 billion in trade volume, up from nearly 175 trading pairs in third quarter 2003.

Roundy's, Kohl's and Woolworth's South Africa Sign for Portfolio Space Management

Companies that made a first-time investment in JDA's space management solutions included $4.3 billion Roundy's Inc., a leading U.S. food retailer and wholesaler, and $1.7 billion Woolworth's South Africa department store chain. WestPoint Stevens Inc., Azerty, Twinings of London, Nova Scotia Liquor, Mexico's Frabel, S.A. de C.V., Bayer de Mexico as well as Australia's Blackmores and AB Food & Beverage Co. also signed new space management licenses.

A number of existing JDA clients expanded their space management investment in third quarter 2004. In the Americas these companies included $10 billion Kohl's Department Stores, Regis Corp., Birds Eye Foods Inc., Bimbo Bakeries USA Inc., Hampton Products, Henkel Consumer Products, MGA Entertainment, Rust-Oleum Corp. and Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Co. International clients expanding their licenses included the U.K.'s Walkers Snack Foods Ltd., Nestle Rowntree, Nestle UK, L'Oreal Portugal, as well as Cadbury Schweppes and Kimberly Clark in Australia.
