Intrado Announces Mobile Messaging Solutions Platform; Core Network Messaging Platform Supports Growing Global Messaging Opportunities

Business Wire, Oct 25, 2004

LONGMONT, Colo. -- Intrado Inc. (NASDAQ: TRDO), North America's leading provider of 9-1-1 infrastructure systems and services, and experts in dynamic communications solutions, today announced a mobile messaging platform that delivers innovative messaging functionality to wireless operators, service providers and their enterprise customers. Developed by Intrado subsidiary bmd wireless AG, this platform supports a set of solutions that enable new subscriber services while adding flexibility in message routing to optimize network resources and capacity.

The growing use of SMS presents a significant global opportunity for wireless service providers. According to Frost & Sullivan, the monthly SMS volume worldwide is expected to increase from around 42 billion in 2001 to more than 90 billion by 2005 year-end. bmd wireless has a successful history of developing and delivering innovative and first to market messaging solutions that enable wireless service providers to offer their subscribers a wide range of messaging services while achieving cost effectiveness and ease of integration. Intrado will offer these solutions in a licensed or hosted services model to customers in North America.

The Intrado mobile messaging platform includes:

SMS Spam Filtering -- prevents unsolicited content and viruses from reaching mobile devices while enabling new services such as SMS forwarding, automatic message archiving and distribution.

SMS Interoperability -- national and global SMS-based access to applications and interactive services such as TV voting and SMS marketing campaigns.

Direct Message Delivery -- enables text messages to be sent and received directly to/from people and applications. Handles all mobile originated and mobile terminated messages, with optional store, forward and retry capabilities, to effectively offload traffic from legacy SMSCs.

Calling Party Notification -- alerts mobile subscribers via SMS when a mobile user is back online or within coverage and available to take calls.

"As demand for flexibility and innovation increase, solution providers are looking for messaging functionality with a cost effective approach that supports rapid service creation," said Dan Hoskins, Intrado senior vice president of sales and new markets. "Intrado is responding to the demand with a core network messaging platform that provides exciting new services to millions of subscribers throughout the mobile messaging marketplace."
