HeyAnita Unveils Content Delivery Service Enabling Rich Audio Content Delivery Across Wireless Networks and Handset Technologies

Business Wire, Oct 25, 2004

SAN FRANCISCO -- Future of Multimedia Messaging Here Today -- CDS Tears Down Mobile Technology Barriers

HeyAnita Inc., a provider of enhanced messaging software for mobile operators, today unveiled its Content Delivery Service(TM) (CDS(TM)) software, which enables mobile phone users to receive audio content in a non-intrusive manner, regardless of handset technology. CDS provides mobile operators and content developers a means to reach a mass audience with current technology, bringing the future of multimedia messaging to users today.

CDS is a mobile termination (MT) solution which allows content providers to push rich-audio content to mobile subscribers individually or en masse, independent of the recipients' handset technology. Conversely, CDS subscribers are able to pull audio content on-demand to their mobile phones.

"The promises of MMS are real but they are still only promises right now," says Mark Willingham, vice president of marketing for HeyAnita. "Today, there remain too many hurdles to make it a vehicle for mass mobile transport of information. Network interoperability issues and handset constraints prevent MMS from achieving acceptable delivery success rates. CDS answers this by providing a solution which ensures the delivery of audio content to any mobile phone."

The service works in the following way:

-- The subscriber can request CDS(TM) in two ways: 1) By opting
in via content provider's or operator's website, or 2) By
sending a predefined SMS short code.

-- The subscriber is notified of an incoming CDS(TM) via SMS text
notification. This notification provides a short description
        of the audio content.

-- While viewing the text notification, the subscriber presses a
single designated button on their mobile phone keypad to hear
        the rich CDS audio feed.

For example, a user can sign up to receive a CDS every time their
favorite music group releases a new album. When received, the CDS
could include information about the album along with actual music
clips. In another instance, a user could request to receive
traffic or weather updates every weekday morning at 7:00 am; the
time they are getting on the road.

CDS ensures next-generation content will be delivered as expected by end users. CDS works for everyone -- regardless of handset technology or carrier network -- by putting end users in charge of what and when audio content is delivered. CDS addresses every user segment, from the investor waiting for a critical stock update to a teen waiting for a new sound clip from his favorite band.

With CDS, content is delivered in a timely, event-driven manner, configurable by the end-user and content provider. And it eliminates the difficulty of browsing on a handset for content or reading text on the small screen.
