SGS Chooses Houston's CyrusOne for Network Infrastructure Outsourcing
Business Wire, Oct 26, 2004
HOUSTON -- SGS North America, a division of the world's largest control and inspection company, has signed a contract with Houston's CyrusOne to move its vast network infrastructure from Toronto, Canada, to CyrusOne's data center on the Southwest Freeway.
SGS North America, whose Swiss parent company is over 100 years old, relies on the safety and availability of its data to serve customers, optimize workflows and fuel back-office operations. After the Northeast blackout in August of 2003, and in light of anticipated future growth of computing capacity, SGS North America management decided that CyrusOne's Houston locale was its best bet to safely consolidate the company's network infrastructure and enable future growth.
"Our data has to be available all the time -- period," notes Richard Laurence of SGS North America. "The way CyrusOne's Houston data center is configured, I'm satisfied that we'll be able to keep our data safe and make the best choice for our customers and shareholders. Plus, they seem to really make it easy to manage one's resources."
CyrusOne's data center is designed so users can keep pace with dense computing trends, as well as future growth, through a high power-to-foot space ratio, effective methodologies and a complementary package of offerings. Its data is secured through flawless security, environmental monitoring, state-of-the-art fire control, guaranteed power and contractual arrangements with other companies which ensure that the center keeps running even if the rest of the city goes off-line.
"It is our mission to provide IT solutions that enable our customers to focus on growing their business. Through the economies of scale, CyrusOne is designed to deliver scalable solutions that meet today's rigorous availability and security challenges," comments CyrusOne vice president of sales and marketing, Blake McLane. "The platform we've created helps our customers make more informed decisions and better control their IT spend."
Other users of the CyrusOne data center include Dynegy, Enbridge, Camden Property Trust, NetIQ, Franklin Bank, United Way and Quanex Corporation.
