Business Wire, Oct 26, 2004
SAN FRANCISCO -- Motricity (formerly PowerByHand), a leader in mobile content distribution solutions, today announced at the CTIA Wireless I.T. & Entertainment conference that its eReader, an intuitive and powerful software application for viewing eBooks on handheld devices, has been selected as "Best e-Book Reader" in Pocket PC magazine's 2004 Best Software Awards. Over 70 Windows Mobile experts worldwide were involved in voting for the best software in over 100 categories. These judges include authors of Pocket PC books, Pocket PC magazine contributors, Microsoft Windows Mobile MVPs and top Windows Mobile webmasters.
"We are honored to be selected as a winner in Pocket PC magazine's 2004 Best Software Awards," said Ryan Wuerch, Motricity's chairman and CEO. "It is a great industry validation for Motricity, our products and the expanding popularity of eBooks. This award further validates our strength and presence in the eBook marketplace and we are pleased that eReader is the software of choice for avid eBook enthusiasts."
eReader can be used to read eBooks on any Windows Mobile, Palm or Symbian device, as well as Windows and Macintosh notebook or desktop computers. eReader is the world's most popular eBook reading software. In fact, based on figures reported to the Open eBook Forum (OeBF), eReader software accounts for approximately 50 percent of all eBooks read.
This powerful software enables eReading enthusiasts access to numerous bestselling titles, such as Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" and Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci Code." Downloading and using eReader from www.eReader.com is free, and an upgrade to eReader Pro is also available to enhance your eReading experience. eReader Pro includes Webster's New World Vest Pocket Dictionary and several other features, including the ability to highlight sections of the text and have notes attached to those highlighted selections.
Over 2,200 Windows Mobile software titles were considered and 581 were nominated for consideration by the Pocket PC magazine Board of Experts. The winners of each of the 107 categories of the coveted 2004 Best Software Award were announced on October 26, 2004, at the Pocket PC magazine booth at the CTIA Wireless I.T & Entertainment conference in San Francisco, and at www.PocketPCmag.com/awards.
