Kenai Systems and Forum Systems Sign Distribution Agreement; Kenai's Web Services Inspection Tool to Extend Forum's Seamless Security Solutions Architecture

Business Wire, Oct 26, 2004

ROCKLIN, Calif. -- Kenai Systems, Inc., the Web Services Vulnerability Assessment and Management ("VAM") experts, and Forum Systems, Inc., a leading provider of trust management and threat protection Web services security solutions, today announced that they have entered into a partnership that enables Forum to distribute Kenai's eXamine 1.0 Web Services inspection tool. Forum will distribute eXamine via its Website at www.forumsystems.com and as a bundle with the Forum XWall(TM) Web Services Firewall software.

eXamine 1.0 is a Web Services inspection tool that enables developers to import WSDL files and test them for vulnerabilities. eXamine 1.0 is the first member of a Kenai software product family that will provide a complete solution for Web Services Vulnerability Assessment and Management, addressing both design-based and attack-centric vulnerabilities. Last week, Kenai announced the availability of a free beta version of eXamine 1.0, which is available for download until December 15 at www.kenaisystems.com.

"Forum's partnership with Kenai will allow us to address a key concern that our customers face as they strive to locate weaknesses and vulnerabilities as early as possible in the development phase," said Wes Swenson, President and CEO of Forum Systems. "As Web services become a front line for conducting business, enterprises will demand a vigilant partner to assist them in controlling unexpected exposure points that affect security, reputation and bottom-line. We look forward to closer integration with upcoming members of Kenai's Vulnerability Assessment and Management product family in the future."

"The distribution partnership announced today will deliver Kenai's eXamine 1.0 Web Services inspection tool directly to Forum Systems' security-conscious customers," said Bill Kesselring, CEO of Kenai Systems. "We believe that best practices in Web Services security begin during Web Services development. eXamine 1.0 will help detect and eliminate Web Services vulnerabilities before they get out of control as well as enable the proper security controls to be enforced."
