BCE Emergis Appoints Francois Cote President and CEO

Business Wire, Oct 28, 2004

MONTREAL -- The Board of Directors of BCE Emergis Inc. (TSX:IFM) ("Emergis") announced today the appointment of Francois Cote as President and Chief Executive Officer, as well as Director of the Company effective November 1, 2004. Mr. Cote replaces Tony Gaffney who is stepping down to pursue other interests.

Mr. Cote's appointment is consistent with one of the key strategic objectives of the Company to accelerate its momentum in electronic solutions for the health sector. Over the past two years, Emergis has focused on its core competencies, particularly in claims processing, expanded its capabilities in electronic solutions for the health sector, and positioned itself to become a central player in the establishment of pharmacy information networks as well as in the government claims outsourcing market.

"We are pleased to have Francois rejoin the Company as we build upon our leadership position in electronic solutions for the health sector to capitalize on the current Canadian market opportunities and consider a North American expansion." said Jean Monty, Chairman of the Board of Directors of BCE Emergis. "Francois knows the Company well, having been part of its senior management team for over five years, and has deep insight into our health market in Canada as well as in the United States."

Mr. Cote is also very familiar with the Company's eFinance activities where Emergis will continue to seek to rationalize its diverse portfolio with a view of enhancing the value and capabilities of these lines of business.

Prior to the sale of Emergis' U.S. health operations earlier this year, Francois Cote was President of BCE Emergis eHealth Solutions Group (North America) and was based in Rockville, Maryland. He had been with Emergis since its inception in 1998, first in a senior corporate role and then as President of eHealth Solutions Group (Canada). Prior to joining Emergis, Mr. Cote held a variety of management positions at Bell Canada over a 21-year period.

"On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to thank Tony for his leadership and support in transitioning Emergis from a subsidiary of BCE Inc. to an independent company and wish him well in his future endeavours," concluded Jean Monty.
