Applix Announces Certified TM1 Integration with SAP Business Intelligence for Increased Performance and Improved Business Planning, Performance Management and Reporting
Business Wire, Oct 28, 2004
WESTBOROUGH, Mass. -- Applix, Inc. (NASDAQ: APLX), a global provider of Business Intelligence (BI) and Business Performance Management (BPM) solutions, today announced its has received certification for the integration of its flagship BI tool, TM1(R), with SAP(R) Business Information Warehouse (SAP BW), the core component of SAP Business Intelligence (SAP BI), itself a component of the SAP NetWeaver(TM) platform. This integration and certification enables SAP BW customers to easily include TM1 in their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and BI solutions for even faster analytics and easier-to-use planning, budgeting, reporting and performance management capabilities.
"SAP BW can access and store massive amounts of historical and current ERP and other data," said David Menninger, vice president, worldwide marketing, Applix, Inc. "The integration of TM1 and SAP BW gives users a greater opportunity to work with the information stored in SAP BW, deriving further value from their entire ERP investment."
The TM1 platform, complementary to SAP BW, is known for helping enterprises achieve a high level of their business goals by:
--Delivering greater performance through faster query, load and recalculate times;
--Providing tools -- on a single platform -- for budgeting, business planning and modeling and reporting;
--Offering users a familiar and easy environment in which to work - Microsoft Excel and Excel via the Web.
"Large enterprise data warehouses, such as SAP BW, can be a 'treasure trove' of operational and transactional information for global ERP customers," said John Van Decker, senior vice president at META Group, a leading provider of IT research, advisory services and strategic consulting. "Complementary third-party business performance management tools for accessing and analyzing this information can help these companies to more accurately and consistently plan for and manage their businesses."
SAP BW and TM1 for Business Modeling, Planning and Forecasting
With SAP BW providing the critical business information, TM1 enables users to quickly build powerful models with minimal demands on IT resources. These models are used easily by financial analysts, line of business managers and executives through TM1's use of Excel.
SAP BW and TM1 for Reporting
SAP BW and SAP Business Explorer Analyzer (the Excel reporting and analytics capability of SAP BI) deliver the bulk of information - from historical to current, static to transactional - and TM1 delivers flexible and easy-to-use report designs. Additionally, since TM1 provides a "single version of the truth," it offers users the ability to view and change information, upon permission, and records the stored information. TM1 delivers a direct connection to ERP and general ledger resources for timely access to data. TM1 also provides a built-in audit trail of changes made to the data.
Pricing and availability
The certification, effective immediately, is available in TM1 8.3 and provides out-of-the-box interoperability through the ODBO interface of SAP BW 2.0 and higher. SAP BW remains the "single source of the truth" and SAP BW and TM1 information always balance.
The TM1 interface to SAP BW starts at $25,000.
