Business Wire, Oct 4, 2004

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. -- OpenService(TM), Inc. (Open), a leader in enterprise network and security management software, today announced the general availability of NerveCenter 4.0, Open's network fault management and real-time correlation technology. This release adds the first major platform addition to the NerveCenter product line in years - support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux - as well as significant performance enhancements to NerveCenter's industry-standard PERL extensibility for all supported platforms.

NerveCenter 4.0 marks the next major milestone in Open's commitment to this core enterprise management software technology. Scalable to the world's largest enterprise and carrier-class networks, NerveCenter enables organizations to identify and escalate potentially damaging network and security events as they are occurring.

Among the new capabilities are:

--Red Had Linux support

--Multi-threaded PERL for improved enterprise performance and throughput.

--Tighter integration with Hewlett Packard OpenView.

--Improved security and audit capabilities.

--Greater backwards compatibility with legacy SNMP MIBs.

NerveCenter 4.0, with its automated real-time event correlation, downstream alarm suppression, root cause analysis, and network polling functionality, is one of the most robust network management and false positive reduction solutions on the market. Support for Linux enables NerveCenter customers to take advantage of the price-performance advantages of this growing enterprise computing platform for the first time. It also enables Security Threat Manager 3.0 (STM), Open's enterprise security information management software application, to run on Linux as well as Windows and Solaris, as STM's industry-defining risk-based correlation is powered by an embedded NerveCenter event management server. NerveCenter also has the capability to integrate with the Akamai EdgeControl service.

"The Linux and PERL extensions in NerveCenter 4.0 demonstrate Open's commitment to continued NerveCenter investment," said Mike Schmitt, Vice President of Customer Service, OpenService. "Customer feedback has been the driving force behind NerveCenter 4.0, and its new capabilities will help organizations operate more efficiently and effectively, and will ultimately improve the overall performance, security and health of their networks. By upgrading to NerveCenter 4.0, our customers will be able to extend the reach and benefits of their existing implementations into new applications."
