Maxspeed Unveils New Value Line of Thin Client Terminals; Affordable Terminals Offer Users Flexibility and Security with High-End Manageability

Business Wire, Oct 4, 2004

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Maxspeed Corp., the technology leader in thin client computing solutions, today announced the release of its new "Value Line" of thin client terminals. The MaxTerm 101, MaxTerm 301 and MaxTerm 501 optimize the value of thin client computing by offering customers the latest software technology for Embedded Linux and Windows CE, coupled with a hardware platform that has more than twice the processing power of other products in its class.

The MaxTerm 101 is a simple Linux-based thin client that offers ICA/RDP connections; the MaxTerm 301 offers ICA/RDP as well as an embedded browser and terminal emulation suite; the MaxTerm 501 thin client runs on a streamlined version of Windows CE and provides an administrator with a robust set of tools to manage the installed client devices. These "Value Line" products provide users with scalable solutions for environments that require optimum connectivity, local application functionality, and high end-user manageability.

"Customers are expecting thin client solution providers to deliver a more powerful yet more cost effective computing device," said Mark Nachlis, vice president of business development and marketing. "The MaxTerm 'Value Line' provides these features to users, with device manageability and better performance to a cost-conscious audience."

Each thin client comes standard with a 667 MHz processor that will provide users with twice the processing power of competitive low-cost 300 MHz thin clients. The "Value Line" is complementary to the customizable MaxTerm 800 MHz and 1.0 GHz thin client solutions currently offered on Embedded Linux, Windows CE, and Windows XP Embedded operating systems.

The Linux-based MaxTerm 101 and MaxTerm 301 thin clients incorporate plug-in-play functionality through Citrix's PN Browse technology and make Maxspeed's thin clients simple and easy to install. They both come standard with 64MB of compact flash and 128 MB of RAM, allowing administrators increased flexibility to support future upgrades if and when ICA/RDP clients require more processing power and local memory.

The streamlined MaxTerm 501 offers a Windows CE operating system with enhanced user management tools and provides the security and flexibility that is essential for thin client terminals. The 501 includes a built-in IE 6.0 browser for Windows CE, multi-media functionality that includes Media Player, support for multiple peripherals, and a terminal emulation suite that offers processing solutions for the most demanding environments.

The MaxTerm "Value Line" products are easily managed with Maxspeed Management System (MMS), a robust enterprise-class management system capable of supporting tens of thousands of devices across a distributed corporate network. Maxspeed will offer MMS free of charge for a limited time with the purchase of 101, 301, 501 and thin client products.
