FedEx Kinko's Launches Packing Service; Just in Time for the Holiday Season, Customers Can Make It, Print It, Pack It, Ship It at a Single Location
Business Wire, Oct 4, 2004
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Just in time for the holiday season, FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) today announced the launch of packing services at virtually all of the 1,100 FedEx Kinko's Office and Print Centers in the United States. The introduction creates a complete pack and ship solution that further expands FedEx Kinko's range of services, which is already the industry's broadest.
FedEx Kinko's new service allows customers to have unpackaged items professionally packed and shipped by specially-trained FedEx Kinko's team members. Customers may bring in items to be shipped or produce them using FedEx Kinko's business services, creating a "one-stop shop." Packed items may be shipped using any of the full range of FedEx time-definite global express or day-definite ground shipping services.
"The launch of Pack and Ship services at the 1,100 U.S. FedEx Kinko's centers less than eight months after the acquisition speaks to the 'absolutely, positively spirit' of this organization," said T. Michael Glenn, executive vice president, FedEx Corp. "With this new service we have truly created the industry's only one-stop business services network, allowing customers to make it, print it, pack it, ship it at a single location."
Since acquiring Kinko's, Inc. in February of 2004, FedEx has moved swiftly to implement its new retail vision. In addition to the launch of the Pack and Ship service, other activities have included:
--Announced the rebranding of Kinko's to FedEx Kinko's Office and Print Centers;
--Completed the roll-out of T-Mobile HotSpot Wi-Fi wireless Internet access at nearly all U.S. locations;
--Launched the full range of FedEx Express and FedEx Ground services at virtually all U.S. centers and added packing supplies and boxes to the retail product assortment;
--Initiated a major national print, online, direct mail and broadcast advertising campaign;
--Introduced FedEx Consolidated Returns at all U.S. centers; and
--Launched File, Print FedEx Kinko's, a new software developed with Microsoft that allows customers to access the full range of FedEx Kinko's copying and printing services from anywhere.
"Since becoming a member of the FedEx family, FedEx Kinko's has seen an acceleration of the implementation of our strategic vision for the company," said Gary M. Kusin, president and CEO of FedEx Kinko's. "Today we offer our customers an unmatched range of services through a global network of more than 1,200 digitally-connected centers."
