Japanese Manufacturer Nitto Denko Migrates Its Global Network to Infonet MPLS IP VPN Secure
Business Wire, Oct 4, 2004
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- New Infonet Managed IP VPN to Support Nitto Denko's IP Data and Voice Requirements on Three Continents
Infonet Services Corporation (NYSE:IN), a leading provider of global communications services for multinationals, today announced a two-year IP VPN contract extension with Nitto Denko, a leading Japanese developer and manufacturer of industrial, electronic and functional products.
Headquartered in Osaka, Japan, and employing more than 18,000 employees worldwide, Nitto Denko's specialty products are used in a variety of industries including automotive, housing & construction and industrial.
Under the terms of the extension, Infonet is supporting the managed IP VPN requirements of Nitto Denko's research and production centers in Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America via a migration from frame relay to Infonet MPLS-enabled IP VPN Secure.
Under Nitto Denko's previous frame relay network, packetized data traffic, including voice, had to route through its network hub site in Osaka, Japan, before moving on to its final destination. With the migration to IP VPN Secure, Nitto Denko will benefit from a fully meshed, point-to-point IP network with improved voice quality via Infonet's specially engineered Cisco-powered voice Class of Service (CoS).
Through Infonet's voice CoS, Nitto Denko's voice quality is guaranteed on a global scale. In addition, Infonet's simple, one-fee pricing structure -- based on the calls destination country -- offers Nitto Denko cost savings over its previous frame relay-based voice service.
Overall, Nitto Denko expects the migration to IP VPN Secure to enhance the way it shares information across its Group's 110 companies, and to provide the high levels of security and application performance it requires for the expansion of its business.
"Nitto Denko has been an Infonet client since 1997. As such, we've managed to develop a strong partnership, and were able to work closely with Nitto Denko to deliver added value through a migration to IP MPLS," said Ted Iriye, vice president of Infonet located in Japan. "Nitto Denko's new IP VPN Secure network doubles the size of its previous frame relay network, and introduces the benefits of Class of Service, while allowing for the easy addition of new locations and applications onto the network as their business grows."
