Over 800 San Fernando Valley Residents Raise More Than $2,800 for Charity at Water and Power Community Credit Union's Community Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser
Business Wire, Oct 9, 2004
LOS ANGELES -- Water and Power Community Credit Union (WPCCU), a full-service financial cooperative serving Southern California communities for nearly three-quarters of a century, celebrated the return of an American tradition on Saturday October 9, 2004 by hosting a community pancake breakfast. All proceeds from the breakfast, totaling in excess of $2,800, went to the Devonshire Police Activity League, the Los Angeles Fire Department Adopt-A-Fire Station program and local elementary schools.
"Now more than ever achieving a sense of community is important, especially in the San Fernando Valley where so many backgrounds meld into one. As a community-based institution, the WPCCU is supportive of all endeavors that foster a sense of community," said Kayleen Leone, Water and Power Community Credit Union Senior Vice President of Member Services. "It was exciting to witness first hand the coming together of our local community to support and fundraise for the community's local heroes."
In addition to eating yummy pancakes for a great cause, attendees had the opportunity to enter a raffle for a chance to win cash and prizes donated by local area merchants, including $500 in savings certificates courtesy of Water and Power Community Credit Union.
In addition to pony rides and a petting zoo, the community was given the opportunity to meet and greet members of the Los Angeles Police Department and Devonshire Police Activity League turned out in force, equipped with their emergency vehicles and hearty appetites.
