SIRVA, Inc. Chooses ForeScout to Ensure Network Continuity During Worm Outbreaks; ForeScout Products Also Secure Confidential Client Data

Business Wire, Sept 13, 2004

CUPERTINO, Calif. -- ForeScout Technologies, Inc., the leading enterprise worm containment and prevention company, announced today that SIRVA, Inc. (NYSE:SIR), a global relocation services provider with brands such as SIRVA Relocation, Allied and northAmerican Van Lines, has deployed ForeScout's network protection products to ensure its global network will not be disrupted by network worm outbreaks and that its clients' data will not be compromised by malicious activities.

"Network worms are a growing business problem resulting in lost revenue and productivity," explained Chuck Shmayel, vice president of infrastructure & security. "SIRVA chose ForeScout because it met our exacting requirements to contain zero-day attacks without human intervention and without signature updates."

SIRVA has installed two ForeScout products, WormScout, for internal network protection, and ActiveScout, which guards the perimeter of the network. These products employ an innovative, patented technology that enables accurate detection of and automatic protection against network threats from automated worms and human sources.

A network worm outbreak is unpredictable and devastating; self-propagating worms spread quickly, bringing down a network. The primary sources of network worm infection are the personal computers of outside sales representatives and independent agents, which are not always under the control the network administrators. An automatic, real-time solution, such as WormScout, installed at vulnerable points in the network, can contain network worms from these mobile users so they do not proliferate throughout the network, thereby ensuring business continuity.

"The deciding factor for me was ForeScout's accuracy, which meant we could automatically act in real time against an infected host or a malicious user to protect our network resources without dedicating personnel to constantly monitor security logs," commented Ann M. Harten, CIO and senior vice president of SIRVA.

"We are pleased to provide SIRVA with enterprise network protection against worms," said T. Kent Elliott, CEO of ForeScout Technologies. "ForeScout's patented technology makes our detection process so extremely accurate that 100 percent of our enterprise customers have turned on the automatic blocking feature of our products, a testament to that accuracy."
