Siemens AG to Rely on Quest Software Windows Management Group for Global Migration to Exchange 2003
Business Wire, Sept 13, 2004
IRVINE, Calif. -- Majority of 417,000 Users Worldwide to Be Migrated Using Quest Software Product
Quest Software (Nasdaq:QSFT), a leading provider of application, database and Windows management solutions, is pleased to announce that Siemens AG, one of the world's largest enterprises and one of the largest users of Microsoft's Windows operating platform, has chosen Quest's migration software to take the majority of its mail users from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003. Siemens chose the Exchange Migration Wizard, a product gained through Quest Software's acquisition of Aelita Software, because it will provide a faster migration, on time, without impacting end users or interrupting business.
"We did a pilot migration using the native tools provided with Exchange 2003, and quickly found that they would not be sufficient for our needs in conducting this very large and complex migration," explained Dieter Reinersmann, Siemens' chief information officer, Work Place. "Further investigation led us to choose Exchange Migration Wizard as the solution we will use in our locations throughout Europe, the Asia/Pacific region and North America. This will give us a better return on investment and allow us to enjoy the benefits of Exchange 2003 more quickly."
Exchange Migration Wizard provides complete coexistence during migration, which brings benefits for end users and for the Siemens IT groups. "With our product, business is not disrupted and access to corporate resources is uninterrupted," said Richard Moseley, director, Windows Management group, EMEA. "And because Exchange Migration Wizard allows partial rollback at any time, IT administrators can work with a virtual 'safety net' throughout their project."
Exchange Migration Wizard has won industry accolades including the 2003 .NET Magazine "Reader's Choice" award. The product's project management and delegation features are especially useful in very large-scale migrations. Evaluation copies of the product are available for download at http://wm.quest.com/products/exchangemigrationwizard.
