ENDESA, Leader in Sustainable Development, According to Dow Jones Sustainability Index

NEW YORK -- ENDESA:
--The company has become one of the five most responsible companies in the utilities sector both in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability Stoxx Index.
--In the evaluation carried out this year to compile these indices, ENDESA ranked among the global leaders in areas such as climate change strategy, environmental information, training, and information on social actions and customer relations.
ENDESA (NYSE:ELE) is once again present in the two prestigious international sustainability indices: The Dow Jones Sustainability Stoxx Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, on a European and global scale respectively, after the latest annual evaluation published today.

In the first, the Dow Jones Sustainability Stoxx Index, which includes European companies, ENDESA has been included for the fourth consecutive year, occupying a position among the first five European electricity companies and the utilities sector as a whole.
With regard to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, in which it has been included for the third consecutive year, ENDESA also ranks among the five best companies.
These prestigious international indices evaluate the performance of the most important companies in international terms in relation with Sustainable Development through a detailed analysis that takes into account a broad range of factors related to the environmental, social and economic dimension of its activities and corporate policies. Specifically, the companies that comprise the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index are a selection of just 10% of the 2,500 companies that form part of the Dow Jones Global Index.
In overall terms, ENDESA scored maximum marks in this latest evaluation in the environmental and social areas among the companies analyzed, and ranked above these companies' average in the economic area.
With regards to the specific factors that were taken into account in each of these three areas, the highlights are:
--In the environmental area, ENDESA achieved maximum reference marks in climate change strategy, development and environmental actions and in environmental reporting, and ranked significantly above the average on the other variables.
--In the social area it achieved maximum marks in knowledge management, training, management of suppliers and contractors and in social reporting, achieving above average levels on the other variables.
--With regard to the economic area, it obtained maximum marks in "balance scorecard" and in customer relations, registering above average levels on most of the other variables.
