Fiserv-Owned ACCEL/Exchange Network Announces 2004 Education Exchange College Grant Winners

BROOKFIELD, Wis. -- Thirty-four members of the high school graduating Class of 2004 will share $50,000 in college grants thanks to the ACCEL/Exchange Network and its Education Exchange college grant program. The ACCEL/Exchange network is owned by Fiserv, Inc. (Nasdaq:FISV)
Sponsored annually since 1994, the program's goal is to assist ACCEL/Exchange Network members recognize, honor and assist hardworking and academically talented students as they further their education and prepare for the challenging careers that lie ahead.
Through the Education Exchange, eligible high school seniors are selected from across the country to share grant awards that are provided by the ACCEL/Exchange Network. From an initial pool of thousands of applicants, four $5,000 grants and 30 $1,000 grants are offered each year based on scholastic achievement, volunteerism and extracurricular activities, character and leadership, essay responses and financial need.
This year's $5,000 grant recipients were Lawrence Camarota of Deland, Florida; Lauren Hammond of Tonawanda, New York; Vito Spadavecchio of Lake Oswego, Oregon; and Jennifer Valera of Leominster, Massachusetts.
Camarota, sponsored by the Kennedy Space Center Federal Credit Union, is a graduate of Mainland High School and was class Valedictorian, a member of the National Honor Society, an AP Scholar, a National Honor Roll member, a Regional Sunshine State Scholar, an Internet Science and Technology two-time National Winner and an International Physics Olympics semi-finalist. Lawrence will pursue a degree in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Florida.
Hammond, sponsored by Buffalo Postal Community Credit Union, is a graduate of Kenmore East High School. She was Vice President of the National Honor Society, Vice President of the Spanish Club, Treasurer of Junior State of America and a member of the Race Unity Club and Peer Team. Hammond will pursue her studies at Case Western Reserve University.
Spadavecchio, sponsored by Northwest Resource Federal Credit Union, is a graduate of Lakeridge High School where he was a member of the varsity golf team and a Student Services Merit Award winner. He also received regional academic and community service awards from the Lake Oswego Junior Women's Club and the Rotary Club. Spadavecchio will pursue a degree in Biology at Reed College.
Valera, sponsored by the Leominster Credit Union, is a graduate of West Boylston High School. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Newspaper Committee and Literary Magazine Committee. Valera will pursue a degree in English at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
