Frost & Sullivan Recognizes Nellymoser's Exceptional Mobile Music Interactivity Solution
Business Wire, Sept 22, 2004
PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Frost & Sullivan's recent study, U.S. Mobile Music Market, acknowledged the technological superiority of Nellymoser, Inc.'s interactive Warner Mobile Music Streaming Jukebox, which helps carriers offer advanced mobile music services on mass-market devices.
In the study, Frost & Sullivan recognized Nellymoser with the 2004 Best Mobile Music Interactivity Solution of the Year Award for the company's successful identification of key requirements in the interactive mobile music market and providing the market with complete solutions. Frost & Sullivan presents this Award to the company that offers enhanced interactive multimedia features for mass-market devices. The company's solution has overcome technological barriers without compromising on the end-user experience.
Launched recently on AT&T Wireless' mMode(TM) service, Warner Mobile Music Streaming Jukebox enables mobile subscribers to discover, preview, and purchase music using Java-enabled handsets and also addresses the issue of previewing on the non-BREW operators. Nellymoser aims to offer a full "micro portal" on the phone to ensure customer loyalty in a market that is expected to grow from $81 million in 2003 to over $900 million in 2008.
"The company uses its proprietary platform for its applications," says Frost & Sullivan research analyst Vikrant Gandhi. "This platform has already been deployed across a wide variety of platforms including the Sony PlayStation2(R), Xbox Live, and Macromedia Flash."
Nellymoser's technology is extremely compact. While its core playback and security technology is less than 10 kilobytes, the Warner Mobile Music Streaming Jukebox application is no bigger than 40 kilobytes. These miniature applications enable the company to build additional features into its solutions such as personalization and promotions. The company also uses its own proprietary technology for addressing the DRM issues.
"Nellymoser's solutions allow the necessary coding, security, and delivery components to be sent separately over the air when they are not available as a part of the handset," notes Gandhi. "Its core technology is also less power-intensive and uses just 0.75 million instructions per second, which is the lowest in its category."
A critical factor is the unique ability of the solution to run even in the absence of a dedicated application processor on the phone. It does this by using the main processor of the handset itself.
Nellymoser's Warner Mobile Music Streaming Jukebox is the answer to mobile operators' need for an interactive, easy-to-use, technologically capable, mass-market application. Riding on the popularity of its functional and technological capabilities, Nellymoser is likely to take the lead in the interactive mobile music market.
