T-Mobile Recognized by Frost & Sullivan for U.S. Communications Services Market Penetration Leadership
Business Wire, Sept 23, 2004
LAS VEGAS -- At tonight's Excellence in Mobile Communications Awards Banquet, Frost & Sullivan will present its 2004 U.S. Communications Services Market Penetration Leadership Award to T-Mobile USA Inc. for its industry-leading penetration of the U.S. wireless market.
Each year, Frost & Sullivan recognizes a company that has demonstrated excellence in capturing market share within its industry. T-Mobile has shown superior product innovation, marketing, and sales strategies that have resulted in its large and rapid gain of the market in recent years, all of which are contributing factors to the company's selection for Frost & Sullivan's Market Penetration Leadership award.
The company has more than doubled in subscriber size from seven million U.S. subscribers in 2001 to more than 15 million at present, causing competitors to lose market share. The Frost & Sullivan Market Penetration Leadership award is determined with a heavy emphasis placed on rapid growth and market share gain.
"In a little over three years, T-Mobile has developed into the fastest-growing wireless service provider in the country," says Frost & Sullivan research analyst Daniel Longfield.
T-Mobile has aggressively and successfully penetrated the market due to its enhanced services and roaming agreements. A key driver for T-Mobile is that it operates on the GSM standard allowing its world phones to roam in not just the United States, but also in 30 European countries and in over 120 nations worldwide. "Their interoperability in Europe and other nations is a great differentiator for the company in the U.S. market," notes Longfield.
T-Mobile's advanced data service, including its nationwide 2.5G GPRS technology, is another selling point that has led to significant growth and considerable gain in market share. The company is also a leader in the SMS technology since every subscriber, regardless of plan or phone, has SMS capability.
"We are delighted that Frost & Sullivan has selected T-Mobile USA for this award," said Mike Butler, chief marketing officer for T-Mobile. "T-Mobile's rapid growth, a key component for this award, can be attributed to our more than 20,000 employees' relentless focus on our Get More(R) Commitment to provide customers with more minutes, more features and more service. We continue to focus on network quality, product innovation, and sales distribution, which in combination with our Get More(R) philosophy, make T-Mobile not only the fastest growing, but also the highest ranked in customer satisfaction in the industry."
Held in Las Vegas, Frost & Sullivan's 2004 Excellence in Mobile Communications Awards Banquet honors world-class companies for outstanding performance and achievements in wireless and mobile strategy, technology, platforms, and services. An annual event, the banquet recognizes the quality and merit of distinguished individuals and companies.
