Streamload Busts Microsoft NTFS File System Limits By Managing More Than 300 Terabytes of Digital Data
Business Wire, Sept 27, 2004
SAN DIEGO -- Transferring and Storing Digital Video, Music & Megafiles Are No Longer Restricted
Streamload(TM), the leading Internet service for transfer and storage of personal digital entertainment, has achieved a technological feat by surpassing Microsoft NTFS's practical limit of 256 terabytes (TB) in a single, centrally managed storage system. Streamload devised a revolutionary method to expand file-scalable file-size management well above 256 TB, the maximum recommended limit by Microsoft for their NTFS file system. Streamload currently manages more than 300 TB of data and is adding more than a terabyte of unique data every other day. Most of these files consist of personal videos, digital video recordings, MP3s, and photo collections.
"By busting the data limits, video and music users now have the choice of unlimited, long-term storage of their digital entertainment. Streamload's unique technology enables users to transfer and stockpile thousands of Megafiles into their account, even with our smallest subscription which is only $5 per month for access to their virtually unlimited storage accounts," said Steve Iverson, co-founder and CEO of San Diego-based Streamload. "Our global service centralizes our customers' digital content allowing them access from any Internet-connected device thereby enhancing their digital lifestyles. We challenge people to test the limits of Streamload."
Streamload is the only Internet service that offers its customers free virtually unlimited storage and Giga file-size limits. This is due to its proprietary technology which can handle billions of files at 1/20 the cost of traditional storage systems. It is an extraordinarily feature-rich service, especially with its tools for recognizing and manipulating massive media files.
Streamload is the ideal complementary service for owners of TiVo(R), digital camcorders, MP3 players, Microsoft Media Center PCs, Portable Media Centers (PMC), digital cameras and enthusiasts of music, anime and digital photography. Streamload offers these users the long-term storage convenience of never having to delete their files again. It is usually the only choice for users who want to stash really large files like their personal high-definition video and digital music collections in an unlimited capacity library and have access to their own content at the right time and right place.
Streamloaders can send and receive all of their files from anywhere quickly and easily, move video and music to any device, and optimize and convert digital files to any format on-the-fly. Streamload doesn't limit file transfer speeds, provides batch uploading and downloading of Megafiles, allows for remote sending, and grows with users as they expand their digital content.
While most of its competitors charge for storage, Streamload does not. Rather, there are only nominal charges for access to the users' digital collection (or bandwidth usage) once they exceed their free account allowance of 100 MB of downloads per month. In contrast to 10 MB limits of most popular online email services like Yahoo! Mail and other popular online email providers, Streamloaders have file attachment limitations of 2 GB of data per file and up to 20,000 files per email. That's a theoretical file size limitation of 40 terabytes of file attachments per email sent or nearly 4 million times the limits of a standard Yahoo! Mail email. Users no longer have to email a large file since they can now Streamload It(TM).
As a completely hosted service, Streamload is available through any Internet-connected PC and requires no additional hardware or software investment for users. More information about Streamload, new service enhancements, and becoming a Streamload user can be found at www.streamload.com.
