Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company is one of the Northeast's most popular family-friendly destinations and includes The Hotel Hershey, Hersheypark and Giant Center. High availability of information such as hotel reservations and point of sale data is necessary to guarantee a positive experience for all guests and visitors. "Ensuring a positive guest experience is critical in every aspect of our business operations," said Andy Bomboy, manager of network technology at Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company. "This includes preserving the real-time availability of data to support sales, databases and daily IT operations such as file and print servers. Double-Take software helps us keep critical business information continually available and ultimately helps preserve the positive guest experience."
In addition to the high availability of essential data, Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company relies on NSI Double-Take to provide a centralized approach to backup. Prior to using Double-Take, the Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company IT team was backing up data at approximately 10 sites with individual tape back-ups. The process was unwieldy and hard to manage and didn't support disaster recovery needs. Today, the data is replicated to a single "hot site" allowing Bomboy's team to consolidate tape back-up into a single tape operation. This cuts costs by eliminating the need to continuously update tape media and hardware and adds a new level of quality control and manageability to the backup operation.
"The process of consolidating backup with Double-Take software provides leaps and bounds of manageability and control and is a vital piece of our disaster recovery plan. It gives us the ability to consistently provide point-in-time backups for the entire enterprise," added Bomboy.
"Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company understands the significant role that data protection plays in preserving business operations. Our Double-Take software allows them to benefit from the advantages of centralized backup including reducing hardware and operational expenditures as well as improving backup management," said Bob Guilbert, vice president of marketing and business development for NSI Software.
