Wistron Selects Genesis Microchip's gm1601 and FLI2300 Controllers for New LCD TV Platform

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- New 30-inch LCD TV Model Features Genesis' Emmy Award-winning Video Processing from Faroudja(R)
Genesis(R) Microchip Inc. (Nasdaq:GNSS), a world leader in the development of image processing technologies for Flat-panel TVs and other consumer display products, today announced that Wistron Corporation, a leading Taiwanese consumer electronics manufacturer and supplier to OEMs, selected the combination of Genesis Microchip's gm1601 display controller and FLI2300 video format converter for its new 30-inch LCD TV platform. This new platform, available now in both NTSC and PAL versions, is being leveraged by leading brand name customers worldwide.

The gm1601 is a highly integrated display controller for fixed-pixel displays that supports resolutions up to Wide UXGA. It features integrated Picture-in-Picture (PiP) capabilities, HDTV input support and RealColor(R) video-specific color controls. The FLI2300 is a digital video format converter that incorporates Faroudja's Emmy award-winning deinterlacing and video enhancement technologies to convert standard interlaced and high definition video signals into formats compatible with flat panel displays. Other advanced performance capabilities of the FLI2300 include patented Film mode for proper handling of 3:2 and 2:2 pulldown material and DCDi(R) (Directional Correlational Deinterlacing) technology to eliminate the jagged edges seen on moving angled lines in video.
