HP Chairman and CEO Carly Fiorina to Keynote the 2005 International CES

Business Wire, Sept 7, 2004

ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) announced today that Carly Fiorina, chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of HP, will deliver a keynote address on Friday, January 7, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. at the Las Vegas Hilton Theater during the 2005 International CES. The 2005 International CES, the world's largest annual technology showcase, will be held in Las Vegas, Nev. from January 6-9.

"We are honored, and privileged to welcome Carly Fiorina to the 2005 International CES," said CEA President and CEO Gary Shapiro. "Under her devout leadership and dauntless visions, HP continues to be an eminent pioneer as a global technology solutions provider for all consumers."

Since joining HP in July of 1999, Fiorina has led the reinvention of the company, including the successful merger with Compaq Computer, returning HP to its roots of innovation and inventiveness.

Fiorina holds a bachelor's degree in medieval history and philosophy from Stanford University, a master's degree in business administration from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, and a master of science degree from MIT's Sloan School. Prior to joining HP, Fiorina spent nearly 20 years at AT&T and Lucent Technologies in senior leadership positions.

At the 2004 CES conference, HP outlined its strategy for adding value across the entire digital entertainment value chain from the creation and protection of digital content to the distribution and consumption of content. The company has since delivered on its promise to consumers. An example is HP's recent announcement highlighting its expansion into multiple new consumer digital entertainment and digital photography categories. 2005 CES participants can expect the same level of innovation from HP, including strategic partnership and product announcements that represent the company's ongoing dedication to the digital entertainment market.

Fiorina joins Bill Gates, chairman and chief software architect of Microsoft Corp., Craig Barrett, CEO of Intel Corp. and Ed Zander, chairman and CEO of Motorola Inc., as confirmed keynote speakers for the 2005 International CES.

The 2005 International CES focuses on more than 20 product areas from more than 2,400 exhibitors spread throughout both the inside and outside of the Las Vegas Convention Center, the Las Vegas Hilton, and the Alexis Park.
