Private-Equity Legends to Speak at 10th Anniversary of Dow Jones Private Equity Analyst Conference; Industry Leaders Also Being Inducted into the Private Equity Hall of Fame

Business Wire, Sept 8, 2004

JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Buyout titan Henry Kravis of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., and prolific and successful investor Roger McNamee of Elevation Partners--both legendary figures in the private-equity industry--will highlight the Dow Jones Private Equity Analyst Conference 2004 on Sept. 21 and 22, 2004, at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York. In addition, a new panel of industry luminaries will be inducted into the conference's annual Private Equity Hall of Fame.

Honorees for the 2004 Hall of Fame are: David Bonderman, principal, partner and founder of Texas Pacific Group, an investment firm with $13 billion under management that is well known for its success in resuscitating companies; Peter Dolan, director of private equity at the Harvard Management Company, the investment arm of the university, which manages a $19.3 billion endowment; and New Enterprise Associates, a premier venture-capital firm with more than 25 years experience and $6 billion under management.

The Private Equity Hall of Fame was established in 1994 to honor individuals and organizations that made exemplary and enduring contributions to the private-equity community. All told, a total of 41 individuals and firms have been honored, noted David Barry, a vice president of Dow Jones Private Equity Analyst. Previous inductees include Gen. Georges Doriot, Thomas H. Lee, Alan Patricof, The Blackstone Group, Greylock, Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers, and Yale University.

The inductees will be honored at a special ceremony on the first day of the conference. Later that day, Mr. McNamee will be featured at a candid and informative private-equity interview session. Mr. McNamee, who followed up an impressive career at T. Rowe Price by launching the first technology crossover fund (Integral Capital Partners) --then the first high-tech buyout fund (Silver Lake Partners) --is now moving into media buyouts with his current firm, Elevation Partners.

Mr. Kravis will kick off the conference's second day with his keynote address. Prior to founding Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. in 1976, Mr. Kravis was a partner at Bear Stearns & Co. There, with his partner George Roberts, he pioneered the use of leverage in acquisitions. Mr. Kravis has been involved actively in buyout activities for more than 35 years.

The Private Equity Analyst Conference is the largest industry event of its kind, annually attracting more than 1,000 senior-level institutional investors, fund-of-funds managers, venture capitalists, buyout specialists, deal originators, senior and mezzanine lenders, and other private equity professionals.
