Burgopak Enters Christian Marketplace, Packages Integrity Music's Upcoming 'iWORSHIP Next' CD Using Innovative 'Packaging in Motion' System
Business Wire, Sept 8, 2004
BOSTON & LOS ANGELES -- Burgopak, creator and global supplier of a new, multi-application packaging solution, today announced that its patented packaging technology will be introduced to the U.S. Christian marketplace with the release of Integrity Music's latest worship CD, iWORSHIP Next - a two-CD collection of 33 popular contemporary Christian worship songs performed by some of today's most successful Christian artists, available Oct. 12 at retailers around the country.
The Burgopak system uses a patented belt drive mechanism to create "packaging in motion." A simple pull on the opening tab of iWORSHIP Next causes the disc tray to smoothly appear from the opposite end by means of the belt-drive inside the case. To close the case, a gentle push of the same tab simultaneously returns both ends securely into the casing.
Integrity Music chose Burgopak over traditional packaging options for its superior case durability, increased product protection, user-friendly opening and closing mechanism, increased print area for more distinctive branding opportunities, multi-disc and multi-application capacity, and patent-protected design. The manufacturing process required for the Burgopak makes it more difficult for pirated discs to be bootlegged.
The Burgopak system is designed to support creation of customized packaging solutions for a variety of consumer products in the multimedia, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, among others.
"Integrity's iWORSHIP music and video series is creating a new interactive dimension to worship," Sam Noerr, Senior Creative Services Director, Integrity Music. "We wanted our packaging to reflect this fresh presentation, and the Burgopak is a powerful way to convey the unique experience before the first note plays."
"Integrity Music is committed to quality and it shows - in its music and in how the company presents its products to consumers," said Charlie Bluett, CEO and USA-based World Group Managing Director, Burgopak. "We were able to help Integrity offer something unique within in its marketplace. Burgopak takes packaging beyond its traditional boundaries, and turns the package into part of the product. Our success in CD and DVD packaging lies in both our system's structural superiority and its important role in overall branding. While it's ideal for disc media, the system is versatile and adaptable to just about any kind of consumer product."
Packaging's New Face
Recent market research indicates that consumers are dissatisfied with the standard jewel case for packaging CDs. According to a recent survey 93 percent of consumers expressed dissatisfaction concerning the ease with which jewel cases break. When asked if improvements with regard to durability were worth an increase in price, more than 85 percent said yes.
Invented in 1998 by Burgo Wharton, the Burgopak system was inspired by his fascination with children's pop-up books. The system has been a hit in Europe and the UK, most recently with ColdPlay's Live 2003 DVD Pak and Digital Dreams' James Bond 007 Spy Camera Pak. At a recent DVD packaging conference, the company walked away with two prestigious ALEX Awards for its unique and original formats.
In the North American market, HBO has packaged the first two seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm on DVD with the Burgopak system, and Sony turned to Burgopak for an eye-opening Spiderman 2 press kit.
The company recently opened offices in Boston and Los Angeles to service its growing roster of U.S. clients. Burgopak maintains contract printing and manufacturing relationships in Mexico, the UK, Germany, Romania and China.
