Business Wire, Sept 8, 2004

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- National environmental engineering and consulting firm Brown and Caldwell announced today that James R. Miller has joined the company as President and Chief Operating Officer. A 30-plus-year veteran of the engineering industry, Miller was Executive Vice President for Europe and Asia/Pacific at URS Corporation in London prior to joining Brown and Caldwell. He is based in the company's Walnut Creek, Calif., headquarters.

"It is exciting to be part of a company that is so widely recognized for both technical accomplishment and client-focused service," said Miller. "Taking on a leadership role with Brown and Caldwell held enormous appeal for me, not just for its 10-year record of unabated growth, but the caliber of its people and quality of clients speak volumes about the firm and its potential."

Miller has held top management positions in other industry firms. He was President and COO of Woodward Clyde, which employed nearly 3,000 people, prior to its acquisition by URS. Miller was also President of Earth Technology Corporation's ("EarthTech") Western Division, which at the time comprised more than 75 percent of the firm's operations.

"Jim brings excellent credentials to Brown and Caldwell," said CEO Craig Goehring, "including a top-line perspective and broad management experience that will help us continue to meet growth objectives and deliver our unique brand of client service."

Established in 1947, Brown and Caldwell is a multi-disciplined environmental engineering and consulting firm. The employee-owned company is headquartered in Walnut Creek, Calif., and employs more than 1,200 people in 45 offices nationwide. Engineering News-Record ranks Brown and Caldwell 48th among the nation's top 500 engineering firms and 9th largest in the Sewer/Waste market.
