Benefit Informatics Signs Benefit Administrative Systems; Benefit Plan Services Include Benefit Analyzer and Benefit Manager

Business Wire, Sept 9, 2004

TULSA, Okla. -- Benefit Informatics Inc. announced today that it has signed a multi-year agreement for benefit plan services and technology with Illinois-based Benefit Administrative Systems LLC.

Benefit Administrative Systems, a third-party administrator of health benefits with more than 50,000 employee lives under coverage, selected Benefit Informatics to help the company adjust to a changing competitive landscape within the industry.

"We needed technology and services that allow us to provide consumer-oriented features to our clients, as well as other applications that work to increase satisfaction among employees with their health plans," said Marty Joseph, president of Benefit Administrative Systems. "Benefit Informatics has all the tools in place, which made them an easy choice as we seek to continue reducing plan and administrative costs for our clients."

Among the Benefit Informatics' products to be included is Benefit Analyzer(TM), an online management information service that provides employers information on critical benefit utilization patterns, as well as a detailed analysis of the financial performance of their health plans. Studies show that more than 75% of benefit plan costs are associated with health utilization patterns. By reviewing clinical statistics such as diagnosis, procedures and place of service, Benefit Analyzer (TM) gives employers insights into provider practice patterns and return on investment for implementing specific health and wellness programs.

Also a part of the agreement is Benefit Manager(TM), a Web-based tool that gives employees access to health and wellness information, online review and comparison of multiple benefit plan choices and "what-if" modeling of different benefit cost scenarios. Benefit Manager(TM) includes automated assistance in choosing and enrolling in selected benefits. Employees are able to monitor the use and cost of health services and become more comfortable in making informed benefit decisions. Plan providers and third party administrators and their clients reap the rewards of an automated solution that helps to reduce costs associated with paperwork, mailing expenses and customer service.

"Technology is key to obtaining more and better information," said Benefit Informatics CEO Philip Kurtz. "We pride ourselves on providing the latest in technology and related services so that employees, employers and consultants can make cost effective benefit decisions."
