HERSHEY, Pa. -- Daniel Warnock has been named the new president of Pennsylvania American Water and regional managing director of American Water's Southeast Region.

Warnock, a 24-year veteran of the utility industry, has served in executive leadership positions, including chief executive officer for United Networks LTD, an international subsidiary of AQUILA, a Fortune 100 energy company. During his career, he also led both US and international companies to achieve notable records of growth, profitability and operational integrity.

"With his proven leadership and strategic planning skills, his experience in growing a regulated utility and his high energy level, Dan Warnock will be an outstanding leader," said Jeremy Pelczer, chief executive officer of American Water in announcing Warnock's selection.

In his new role, Warnock will oversee operations of the largest regulated water and wastewater utility in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania American Water provides service to approximately 2 million people in 370 communities in 35 of the state's 67 counties. In the Southeast Region, where American Water has water and wastewater operations in thirteen states and Puerto Rico, the company's regulated and non-regulated operations serve more than 6 million people in more than 600 communities.

Warnock succeeds Robert M. Ross, who retired in March 2005 after 45 years of service to American Water.

Providing quality water services for more than a century, Pennsylvania American Water is a wholly-owned subsidiary of American Water. The company owns and operates 38 water treatment facilities, three wastewater facilities and approximately 8,900 miles of pipeline.

With a history of over 100 years, American Water provides high-quality water, wastewater and other related services to more than 18 million people in 29 states and three Canadian provinces. American Water is part of RWE Thames Water, the third largest water and wastewater services company in the world. Through its combined experience and financial strength, the company provides global expertise in water quality, research and development, customer satisfaction and security.
