Avvenu Remote Access and Sharing Service Now Available in Public Beta

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Unique Service Gives Users Access to Their Photos and Files From a Mobile Phone, PDA or Computer -- and Lets Them Securely Share This Content With Friends and Family

Avvenu, Inc. today announced that its new remote access and sharing service is available to the public as part of a free beta trial. The Avvenu service allows users to securely access the content on their computer from any web-enabled mobile phone, PDA and computer. In addition to accessing their own content, users can instantly share access to their content, such as photos, with friends and family without the need to upload content to a centralized server.

"I've been amazed that I can access my computer files from my cell phone," said Caroline Kirkland, an early user of the Avvenu service. "I can instantly share gigabytes of photos with my family -- and I can share a folder of business content with a colleague without even having my computer with me."

The Avvenu service lets users easily select which files or folders they want to share with others. The Avvenu subscriber controls who gets access to the selected content and for how long. The guests do not need to be a member of the Avvenu service in order to view what has been shared with them.

Avvenu provides secure access, by giving the Avvenu subscriber, and only the Avvenu subscriber, secure, password-protected access to their files and folders. The guests get to see what the subscriber has selected to share with them -- and nothing else. The service works transparently and securely with existing firewalls and security software.

Avvenu's smart viewing feature scales high-resolution photos to accommodate the device being used, providing quick viewing of images - even on a mobile phone.

The service is scheduled to be commercially available directly from Avvenu early this summer. Avvenu has also partnered with Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT) to deliver this capability to Motorola customers on next generation handsets due out later this year. Motorola recently demonstrated this service, called Pocket Album, at last month's CTIA (Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association) Conference.
