Actuate to Present at MySQL Users Conference; VP Product Management to Address Audience on the Eclipse BIRT Project as an Open Source Business Intelligence Alternative
Business Wire, April 12, 2005
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Actuate Corporation (Nasdaq:ACTU), the world leader in Enterprise Reporting Applications, today announced that the company's vice president of Product Management, Paul Clenahan, will present a session on Open Source Business Intelligence using the Eclipse Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools (BIRT) project at the MySQL Users Conference to be held April 18-21, 2005, at the Santa Clara Convention Center.
In his capacity as member of the Eclipse BIRT Project Management Committee, Planning, and Requirements Councils, Clenahan will show how BIRT provides a powerful Open Source Business Intelligence solution to fulfill the ever-growing demand to gain operational insight and business value from data in the form of reports, including invoices, sales summaries and shipping reports. He will introduce BIRT, its goals and technology, and discuss the types of issues it can be used to address.
"Paul Clenahan's presentation at the MySQL Users Conference will provide attendees with an excellent opportunity to learn about how BIRT can leverage data stored in MySQL databases," said Bertrand Matthelie, director of Alliances at MySQL AB. "BIRT is an alternative when hand-coding cannot keep up with increasing demand for operational and business data in the form of reports. With both open source and commercial business intelligence expertise, we are confident that Paul will deliver a highly informative session."
The BIRT session will take place on Wednesday April 20, at 10:30 a.m. In addition, Actuate will be exhibiting at the MySQL Users Conference at booth number 2 from April 19-20 during regular exhibit hall hours.
