BURBANK, Calif. -- Special Limited Edition Packaging For Both Box Sets To Replicate Animation Cel From Each Series

By plane or by car, the race to DVD is a tie for Dick Dastardly, his companion Muttley and Penelope Pitstop as Warner Home Video (WHV) releases both "Dastardly & Muttley in Their Flying Machines: The Complete Series" and "The Perils of Penelope Pitstop: The Complete Series" on May 10, 2005.

Both titles are a continuation of the legendary Hanna-Barbera "Wacky Races" franchise and will be released as three-disc collector's sets retailing for $34.98 SRP.

"Consumers showed strong interest in the 'Wacky Races' release last year and we anticipate great success for these exciting spin-offs, which are making their long-awaited debuts on DVD," commented Christine Martinez, WHV Vice President, Non-theatrical Franchise Marketing. "'Dastardly & Muttley in Their Flying Machines' and 'The Perils of Penelope Pitstop' feature three of the most memorable characters from the 'Wacky Races' series in their own adventures. We think both new and existing fans of the original program will be entertained by these two new titles and will want to make each a part of their DVD library," added Martinez.

"Dastardly & Muttley in Their Flying Machines: The Complete Series" follows the schemes of the Vulture Squadron to stop a carrier pigeon named Yankee Doodle Pigeon. As leader of the Vulture Squadron, Dick Dastardly would try to follow orders from the General to "stop that pigeon." With the aid of his snickering canine sidekick Muttley, who always muttered his signature "rassuh-frazza-pazza," and fellow dimwitted pilots Zilly and Klunk, the Vulture Squadron would use their WWI aircrafts to carry out their missions. Among the episodes featured on the DVD is "Magnificent Muttley," in which Muttley decides that he's finally had enough and flies off into his own fantasy world where he gets to be boss for a change and many others.

"Dastardly & Muttley in Their Flying Machines" features the vocal talents of the legendary Paul Winchell (Dick Dastardly) and Don Messick (Muttley, Zilly, and Klunk).

High-flying bonus features include:

"The Perils of Penelope Pitstop: The Complete Series" puts beautiful Penelope, a Southern Belle and heiress to a vast fortune, in peril at every pit stop. In each episode, she was constantly being followed by her guardian, Sylvester Sneekly, who disguised himself as "The Hooded Claw." His goal was to bump off Penelope by any means necessary in order to get her fortune. Facing danger at every turn, Penelope would often get help from her friends, the Ant Hill Mob, a group of seven diminutive men who would come to her rescue. Along with their car, Chugga-boom, the Ant Hill Mob would arrive in time to save pretty Penelope from peril. The three-disc set includes 17 heroic episodes from the popular series along with a mob of DVD extras.

The television series, "The Perils of Penelope Pitstop" was a spin-off of the popular cartoon "Wacky Races." It featured Janet Waldo as the voice of Penelope Pitstop and comedy legend Paul Lynde as Sylvester Sneekley (a.k.a. The Hooded Claw).
